Baba Baidyanath dham or Baidyanath dham is another name for Vaidyanatha Jyotirlinga temple. As one of the most revered Jyotirlinga in the country, Vaidyanath is among the most worshiped. Ravana had done penance for years to take Lord Shiva with him, according to mythological scriptures. As a reward for his penance, Lord Shiva gave him one of his Jyotirlingas and said it would be established wherever the Jyotirlinga touched the ground. However, this Jyotirlinga was not allowed to reach Lanka by the gods. So, even before reaching Lanka, they set up a Jyotirlinga in Jharkhand. Baidyanath Temple is the place where this Jyotirlinga was established.
