QUTUB MINAR INFORMATION & HISTORY

The Qutub Minar is a minaret located in the Mehrauli near beautiful and Capital Territory CIty of India Delhi. The monument is also called as Victory tower as it was build by Qutb-ud-din Aibak. He was the first ruler of the Delhi Sultanate to mark his victory against the last Hindu empire of Delhi. The Height of the Minar is 72.5 m (238Ft). As per the UNESCO World heritage site Qutub Minar is the Second Tallest monument in Delhi. There are also other Ancient architect beside the Qutub complex they are Quwwat-ul-Islam mosque, Alai Darwaza, Iron Pillar, Alai Minar. 

The Qutub Minar construction Started in 1192 By Qutb-ud-din Aibak who was the ruler of Delhi Sultanate. This Monument is name as a memorial to Sufi saint Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki. Qutb-ud-din Aibak just built the basement of the Monument. The further 3 storey building was construct by his successor Iltutmish. Top storey of the monument was completely destroyed in a natural disaster in 1369 AD. Further Sultan Firuz Shah Tughlaq rebuilt another two stories and made it a 5 storey monument which was made of marble and red sandstone.

Further the monument faced many natural calamities and in 1828. The Monument was rebuilt by Major Robert Smith of British Indian Army. Major also Installed a cupola at the top of the tower. Further in 1848 the cupola was uninstall on the command of Henry Hardinge who was the governor-general of India. Right now the Cupola is on the ground floor to the east of kutub Minar. There is a 3 days  festival here,where there are many cultural Dance and Music Programs. The festival is visit by thousands of Nation and international tourists. It is Combinedly organized by Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation and the Sahitya Kala Parishad.

The best time to visit the Qutub Minar is from the months of October to March. 

Many tourists from all over the World visit this Monument to enjoy the breathtaking view of this monument. There is also a Kutub Minar festival Celebrated here in the month of November-December.
