MYSORE PALACE INFORMATION & HISTORY

The Mysore palace is a historic palace located in the city of Mysore in the Indian State of Karnataka. Place is the official royal residence of the Wadiyar dynasty and also there is a seat of the kingdom of Mysore. Palace is build in the year 1912 for the 24 ruler of Wadiyar Dynasty and is consider as one of the biggest Place in the country, The place is the second most visited historical Monument by the local and foriegn tourist after the Taj Mahal. Mysore palace is Famous for its Lights & sound show during the Dussehra Celebrations.

The Mysore Palace is a historical monument constructed by Maharaja Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV in 1912. It was further expanded by the Son and the last Maharaja of Mysore Maharaja Jayachamaraja Wadiyar. Almost around 600 years the WAdiyar Royal family of Mysore Reside here from the year 1350 to 1950. After that it was renowned Many times during this year. In the year 1912 the British architect Lord Henry Irwin was commission to replace the place which was burnt during a fire in 1897. Cost of the Reconstructed palace was INR 41,47,913 at that time. The place is build with the Indo-Saracenic blend styles of Hindu, Mughals, Rajputs and Gothic. The Structure is a three story stone with marble domes and has a 145 ft five story tower. There is a large garden surrounding the Palace.

Palace has three gates: the East Gate, South Gate and West Gate. West and East Gate are only opened during the dussehra festival.Although the Palace is open throughout the year. There is an impressive light and sound show which takes place every day in the evening except sundays and public holidays inside the palace. This show takes place in two languages, kannada (local language) and English where the price fare and Time for the shows are different. The fees for the Show is approx 90 rs per adult whereas it is Rs 40 for childrens. Being the Second most visited historical monument in the country, this is one of the beautiful places to visit in India.
