INDIA GATE

India Gate also known as “Memorial War Gate” is located  in Delhi the capital city of India. Gate is a 42 meter tall historic structure designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens and is one of the largest war memorial gates in india. This is compared to the Gateway of India in Mumbai, Arch de Triomphe in France, and the Arch of Constantine in Rome. The gate visited by thousands of tourists every year. Destination hosts the Parade of Republic day Every year on 26 January.        

The India gate Delhi was built in 1931. Construction started in 1921 and it took around 10 years to complete the memorial gate. Inaugurate by the India’s viceroy, Lord Irwin on 12th february 1931. It is dedicated to the 82,000 Indian and British soldiers who laid their lives during the 1st World War. It was built so that the future generation of the soldiers would remember them for the sacrifice they made for their country. This Gate stands on the low base red stone which was imported from Bharatpur further it rises in Stages. There is a dome shaped bowl on the top of the gate which is rarely filled with burning oil on Special occasions.
